You can reach out directly to maemaetattoos@gmail.com or via the Living Canvas Tattoo and Piercing shops scheduling website. There are no wrong questions!

You've made an appointment, now what?

Once you have scheduled your tattoo, if you haven't reached out to Mason already she will contact you a few days before your appointment to answer any additional questions, so be sure to look out for texts or emails. But before your tattoo, make sure to have a good nights rest, eat breakfast and have plenty of water. Please do NOT have any alcohol the day of, as this can lead to excessive bleeding and bad decisions. :) Make sure to wear comfortable clothing with appropriate access to the area we are tattooing.

What is Tattoo Aftercare?

While there are many ways to heal a tattoo, and Mason will go over these steps in person, we recommend these tips:

  1. Keeping the piece wrapped for 1-2 hours until you get to a clean location where you can wash.

  2. Wash gently with anti-bacterial soap

  3. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or unscented lotion. Do not overdo it.

  4. Repeat steps 2-3 for a few days after your appointment. Then you can apply Aquaphor as needed due to excessive dryness or itchiness. Plasma and blood build up is normal in the first few days.

  5. DO NOT soak for 2 weeks; no bathtubs, pools, excessive sweating, excessive lotions etc. You may shower directly after your appointment, but make sure to keep the tattoo out of the water stream to avoid pruning.

  6. Flaking and scabbing is normal during the healing process. Do not pick at your tattoo or you may pull out ink. Let them fall off naturally or gently massage the area in the shower while wet. Loose clothing will help the tattoo by causing less friction.

  7. It takes about 2-3 weeks for tattoos to heal fully.

  8. However, If the skin around the area looks excessively red for a few days or starts accumulating puss, feel free to contact Mason or your doctor in concern of an infection. Infections can be caused by a number of issues - tattoos are wounds after all - if you have any questions please contact Mason for further direction.

Do you require deposits?

Yes! :) Deposits are required for tattoo appointments, however consultations are free. Before your appointment, a lot of time and effort goes into every design to make sure it fits your vision. A deposit just ensures your spot in the calendar and allows Mason to start drawing up your design. But not worry - all deposits go toward your tattoo price unless you miss your appointment.

You revoke your right to your deposit if you do not show up to your appointment on time. Please contact Mason if you are running late or wanting to reschedule. Rescheduling within 24 hours of your appointment will void your deposit in most cases.
